Present: Maguire, Eurich, Farnum, Prusi, Hall   
Absent: Hoag, Adams
Guests: Police Chief James Sherrod, Donnie Englehart, Bob Parsell, Steve Young,
Fern Young, Cindy Burnison, Kelly Walstead, Travis Cragg, Monika Siler, Gayle Sleight, Sandy Dillon, Todd Humpert
 
 
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Maguire.
 
Motion Prusi second Eurich to accept the July 20, 2009 regular meeting minutes as printed.    Carried.
 
Kelly Walstead had questions regarding a fence permit, which Zoning Administrator Prusi addressed. Travis Cragg representing the Michigan Bean Festival stated that they were hiring a security company and would not be using the Village Police Department for security purposes.
 
Motion Eurich second Farnum to reimburse the Michigan Bean Festival 50% of the invoice from Kirk Landscaping for seeding the old demolition derby pit area, which totaled $240 making the village contribution $120.    Carried.
 
Motion Prusi second Eurich to close Liberty Street between McLuney and Armstrong on Saturday September 5, 2009 from 7:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. for the Michigan Bean Festival car show.    Carried.
 
Police Chief Sherrod gave the July statistics for his department. He informed the council that Wal-Mart responded to his request letter by donating a mountain bike to the department.
 
The clerk reported that the fire department had 2 runs, 2 lift assists and 2 fire assists for July.
 
Correspondence was received from Tuscola County Economic Development Corp. thanking the council for its budget allocation. 
 
The clerk stated that Gilford Township requested that three of their residents be able to use the dump for brush removal because their lots are too small for burning. The council denied Gilford Township’s request.   
 
Motion Prusi second Farnum to pay bills of approximately $7,414.44.    Carried.
 
Motion Hall second Farnum to spend no money on the volunteer Police Reserve program unless there are donations covering an expense.    1 Yea    4 Nay    Defeated.
