Synopsis of a Regular Meeting

Held on May 7, 2018 at 6:30 P.M.

CALL TO ORDER

A meeting of the Village of Fairgrove Board was called to order by president pro tempore Cathy Phelps at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018, in the Fairgrove Village Hall, 5005 W. Center St. Fairgrove, Tuscola County, Michigan.

 

Roll Call

            Present Cathy Phelps, Troy McIntosh, and Doug Stevens

 

Motion #1. Motion by D. Stevens, supported by T. McIntosh to approve the agenda.  Motion carried (3-0).

 

Motion #2. Motion by T. McIntosh, supported by D. Stevens, to approve the minutes of the April 2, 2018 meeting. Motion carried (3-0).  

 

PUBLIC AND BOARD COMMENTS

Thank you for the leaf pick-up.

FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT

Chief Young is attending a conference.

The fire run report indicated 3 fire runs for the month of April 2018.  One run was a mutual assist received and one was mutual assist given.

 

Motion #3. Motion by D. Stevens, supported by T. McIntosh to pay Chief Young’s room fee for the Great Lakes Homeland Security Conference. (estimated $550)   Motion carried (3-0).

 

DPW REPORT

The DPW updated the village on recent projects including road signage, the RR crossing repair, water at the bean fest building, and storm damage.

 

Motion #4. Motion by T. McIntosh, supported by D. Stevens, to authorize the clerk to set an additional date with Kappen to collect storm damage brush.  Motion carried (3-0).           

 

CLERK REPORT-

            The clerk reports the bridge inspection has been scheduled.

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

Motion #5. Motion by T. McIntosh, supported by D. Stevens, to authorize the clerk to contact the engineer and let the contract for McLuney Street.  Motion carried (3-0).

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

DPW and clerk will evaluate the DPW parking lot and present a forward looking plan for the parking lot and building.

 

Motion #6. Motion by T. McIntosh, supported by D. Stevens, to contract with the Akron Police for additional hours of patrol and ordinance enforcement in the amount of $7880.   Motion carried (3-0).

 

The clerk provided an update on blight enforcement.

 

Motion #7.   Motion by D. Stevens, supported by T. McIntosh to approve the expenses for the April expenses in the amount of $21,216.59

 

ADJOURNMENT

 

Motion #8. Motion by D. Stevens, supported by T. McIntosh to adjourn.  Motion carried (3-0).

 

Meeting adjourned at 7:32 PM.
