ORDINANCE NO. 8
PEDDLERS AND VENDORS
THE VILLAGE OF FAIRGROVE ORDAINS:
Sec. 1. That every hawker, peddler or vendor or other person traveling about and selling or offering for sale any goods, wares, merchandise, or product of any kind, shall, before selling any of such goods, wares, merchandise or product in the Village aforesaid, procure a license from the Village Clerk of said village, and shall pay to said Clerk the proper amount of fees for such license, provided for in the following section:
Sec. 2. For every person traveling about on foot and selling from house to house, or from any stand or place on any street or other public place, two dollars ($2.00) for each day.
For every person traveling about with a horse or horses, or other animal, or any vehicle of any kind, four dollars ($4.00) for each day.
Sec. 3. And the Village Clerk, shall upon receipt of the fees prescribed issue to such person making application, a license to sell such goods, wares, merchandise or products, and the license shall state the particular days that such person may sell such goods, wares, merchandise or products, provided that no license shall be issued for more than six consecutive days on the same application, and provided further, that this ordinance shall not apply to any person residing in said village, nor prohibit any person from selling any product of his or her own labor, or any person selling fish.
Sec. 4. The Village Marshal is hereby empowered to stop every person from selling any goods, wares, merchandise or products in said village who has not complied with the requirements of this ordinance. Any persons violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall, on conviction thereof, pay a fine of five dollars ($5.00) and the costs of prosecution, and in default of the payment of such fine and costs, be imprisoned in the village prison or County jail ten days.
