VILLAGE OF FAIRGROVE
SEPTEMBER 13, 2010

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Duane Maguire.
Motion Prusi second Ahrens to accept the August 16, 2010 regular meeting minutes as printed. Carried.
The 2009-10 audit report was presented by David Quimby, CPA from Weinlander Fitzhugh.
Audience member Kim Morton asked trustee Hall to explain why he felt the village police department should be terminated. Steve Young asked if there were any police committee meetings since March 2010 and if not then when did the committee work on the standard operating procedures for the department.
Fire Chief Young reported that the department had 2 runs, 1 weather spotting and 1 assist for August.
Motion Hall second Prusi to purchase a filter for the compressor for $685 from Breathing Air Systems. 6 Yea 1 Nay Carried.
Sgt. Tim Burnside gave the August statistics for the police department.
Motion Prusi second Adams to terminate the police department. Roll Call Vote: Adams-Nay, Ahrens-Nay, Eurich-Nay, Hall-Yea, Humpert-Yea, Maguire-Yea, Prusi-Nay. Defeated.
The council determined that the village flower pots were not an obstruction of the sidewalk and therefore not a violation of the Sidewalk Ordinance.
Correspondence was received from village resident Kathy Morton questioning the termination of the police department and asking that the council keep the current police department.
Prusi inquired whether the illegal storm sewer inspections were proceeding. Maguire stated that he would compose an explanatory letter to village property owners and deliver it to the council for their approval. Ahrens suggested that an evaluation of the police chief be conducted since there has not been one since the chief was appointed in November 2008.
Motion Prusi second Hall to pay bills of approximately $58,144.58. Carried.
