The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Maguire.
 
Motion Adams second Hoag to accept the May 18, 2009 regular meeting minutes as printed.    Carried.
 
Police Chief Sherrod gave his department’s statistics for May. He stated that police reserve officers would be reimbursed for ½ of the cost of the pants and shirts required for the uniform after one year of service.
 
Motion Hoag second Hall to approve four of the following police department volunteer reserve officers pending positive background checks: John Adams, Steve Young, Mike Hall, Bernard Wielen, Adam Sayles & Pat Enos.    4 Yea    0 Nay    1 Abstain-Adams    Carried.
 
Fire Chief Young reported that there were 3 runs and 1 assist for May.
 
Motion Adams second Hoag to have the Fire Chief write a FEMA no match grant for an addition to the fire station.    Carried.
 
MotionHoag second Hall to have the budgeted leaf machine fabricated by Height Machinery for $33,485.    Carried.
 
Motion Adams second Hoag to appoint Mary Alice Pike to the Planning Commission.    Carried.
 
MotionHoag second Adams to have Nietzke & Faupel, PC perform accounting services for fiscal year 2009-10 at $215 per month.    Carried.
 
Motion Adams second Hoag to have the village treasurer sign the first right of refusal to Tuscola County Treasurer for foreclosed properties within the village, parcels 036-500-231-0110-00 and 036-500-231-0120-00, so that these properties may be sold at tax sale.    Carried.
 
The clerk was instructed to place an ad for a janitor for the municipal building for two hours per week at $7.50 per hour. The zoning administrator was instructed not to have the property at 2025 Main Street inspected by Tuscola County Building Codes to determine whether it fit the dangerous building criteria. 
 
The clerk informed the council that 52 properties were being placed on the 2009 tax roll for unpaid sewer billings totaling $9,264.73. The 2009 taxable value is $8,824,707 which is an increase of 2.61% over last year and the millage rate is 11.044 which is the same as last year.
 
Motion Adams second Hoag pay bills of approximately $6,027.08.    Carried.
 
Travis Cragg, of the Michigan Bean Festival, questioned the $300 police contract for the upcoming motorsports weekend.
