The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Maguire.
Motion Farnum second Hall to accept the April 20, 2009 regular meeting minutes as printed. Carried.
Fire Chief Young reported there were 11 runs and 5 assists for April with 7 of those runs occurring in one day due to a snow storm and power outage on April 6, 2009.
Police Chief Sherrod presented his department’s statistics for April 2009. He also presented material on a police reserve program for the council’s review.
As part of the Shreeves Road paving project, Huron & Eastern Railroad has agreed to repair the railroad deck with the village providing asphalt, material disposal and road closure.
Motion Hall second Farnum to approve the bid proposal from Saginaw Asphalt Paving Co. for railroad deck repair on Shreeves Road for $3950. Carried.
MotionHall second Farnum to amend the Major Street Fund budget with an increase of $3950 to Preservation. Carried.
Correspondence was received from Human Development Commission inviting the council to attend their annual luncheon and program May 15, 2009 and providing their 2008 Annual Report. Tuscola County Commissioner’s provided information on a prescription drug discount card for county residents that will be available in June 2009.
Motion Farnum second Hall to accept the sealed bid for the 1994 Chevrolet Pickup from Mark Leitermann for $2250. Carried.
Motion Farnum second Hall to accept the sealed bid for the Toro Groundmaster from Scott Hawkens for $1860. Carried.
Motion Farnum second Hall to accept the sealed bid for the 1975 GMC 7000 Chassis from M.A.D. Auto for $800. Carried.
The clerk provided a tabulation on the fire department responses for 2005 – 2008. Mutual aid responses accounted for an average of 34% of the department’s runs. The clerk was instructed to send a letter of appreciation to Earle Haney, Jr. for donating his labor to re-roof the pavilion in the old park with steel roofing material purchased by the village.
Motion Eurich second Farnum to pay bills of approximately $10,913.72. Carried.
