VILLAGE OF FAIRGROVE

Absent: Farnum, Adams

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Maguire.
 
Motion Prusi second Wassa to accept the June 16, 2008 regular meeting minutes as printed.    Carried.
 
Bob Mantey candidate for Drain Commissioner and Lee Teschendorf candidate for sheriff introduced themselves and Mike Tuckey from the Road Commission discussed the August road millage renewal proposal.
 
The fire department had 10 runs for June – most of which were for wires down due to storms. The police chief presented the department’s quarterly report. The zoning administrator updated the council regarding the Maple Street rental house; he has allowed them another 30 days to vacate the property to comply with the zoning ordinance.
 
Correspondence was received from Weinlander Fitzhugh, CPA regarding the scope of the audit and Tuscola County Parks & Recreation informing of lower rates at Vanderbilt County Park and continuing to pursue a county-wide trail system.
 
MotionEurich second Prusi to accept the quote of $1500 from Kappen Tree Service for the removal of 4 trees and trimming of 7 trees in the village.   Carried.
 
Motion Prusi second Wassa to amend Section 5. of both the Sanitary Sewer Connection Ordinance #27 and Sanitary Sewer User Charge Ordinance #28 to charge 10% interest on past due sewer billings instead of a 10% penalty.    Carried.
 
The clerk was instructed to notify municipal building users that pets are not allowed at meetings or other gatherings.
 
Motion Eurich second Prusi to contract with Nietzke & Faupel, CPA for accounting services from April 1, 2008 through March 31, 2009.    Carried.
 
Motion Prusi second Eurich to pay bills of approximately $22,230.56.    Carried.
